Everyone Remembers This From Childhood: Build Your Own Slingshot

Can you still let your children build twins or slingshots nowadays? After all, these things are potentially dangerous… When we were young in the 80s and 90s, people didn’t think too much about this. (Neither did they think about the sugar content in food or smoking indoors, but I guess that’s another topic). If you’re ” fearless” and want to relive your own (thankfully carefree) childhood, here’s a short, straightforward tutorial: how to build your own slingshot in no time!

What you need

Two wooden plates
A plastic straw
A binder clip
Thin wooden sticks or similar as projectiles
A rubber band
Superglue

And here’s how!

Glue one wooden plate to the other orthogonally in the center, and to that in turn you attach the binder clip with glue in the back third.

Cut a rubber band (strong enough), and attach the two ends to the other wooden plate so that you can stretch it and hook it to the clip.

From a small piece of straw you make a kind of guide or barrel, which you attach to the plate in front of the binder clip.

Now you can use “projectiles” such as thin wooden sticks to stretch the band to the clip and thus load the slingshot.

As soon as you squeeze the clip and thus open it, the wooden stick is fired.
