Crazy Techniques To Create Stunning Works Of Art

Can you still remember the childlike amazement you felt when butterflies were conjured up on paper for the first time in kindergarten, just by folding a piece of paper? That was truly magical! However, such methods, which also involve chance, are by no means just for children. They can also help us as adults to create decorative images on canvas. And that’s even if we’re not really good with a paintbrush….

Here’s how!

Lay pieces of cord diagonally across the horizontal canvas at regular intervals. Now generously fill the spaces in between with different colors straight from the tube. Now pull the pieces of cord away – surprising streaks appear as the colors run. You can achieve a similar effect, but more controlled, with a small chain if you proceed as shown in the second example.

Dip small bath sponges into different pots of paint, place them next to each other on the lying canvas and press on each of them once briefly with a drinking glass so that the paint literally explodes.

Put a few drops of viscous paint on a canvas and pull it down with a rake (a technique also used by Gerhard Richter, by the way).

Similarly, as shown in the examples below, you can bring a compass, a sieve, or a cut-off bottom of a Coke bottle to bear to create exciting color effects reminiscent of a map or flowers, for example. Be creative!
